Big Wolfe’s History

 

In 1971 I saw the Bavarian Stompers in Blackpool at the Jaeger Bierkeller.

I was only a young lad and really enjoyed the super holiday atmosphere.

 

In 1976 I joined the band and had three fantastic years as their Sousaphone player.

However 1930s German music and old time sing-a-long gets a bit boring after a while.

So in 1979 I left to form Big Wolfe’s Oompah Band  – with the intention of making it more like a modern day German bier festival band

i.e. Footstomping oompah music plus the latest  pop and party tunes with daft European dances like Zorba’s dance, The Slapping waltz etc…

 

Big Wolfe’s Oompah Band eats other bands for breakfast.

A great Bierkeller night is fantastic but you need a great band with real ‘UMPH’ that can entertain any audience young or old in any situation.

It could be a top class car showroom or a giant university campus whatever the event if you want variety Big Wolfe is the first choice.

Most so called oompah bands are now full of pensioners at an average age of 75 yrs old.

Great if you’re a similar age but useless if you’re a fairly young minded person.

 

Some bands have a music track to listen to….you think’ mmmm sounds O.K. lets book em!

Well that’s what they sounded like thirty years ago…. But what do they sound like now?

Hundreds of party organizers have had a major flop by booking a geriatric band and wish they’d booked someone else.

 

Big Wolfe’s Oompah Band is really a ‘MONSTER’ party band in shorts and braces.

We play at Universities, Nightclubs, Rugby clubs, Golf clubs and the biggest corporate dinners and events.

At the famous Edinburgh Fringe Comedy Festival out of six oompah bands Big Wolfe was the only band chosen to do the whole three week festival.

On summer season in Torquay, Newquay or Blackpool Big Wolfe is usually voted top act!
